The icon of Indonesian tourism. Located on the bird’s head of western Papua, Raja Ampat have gained the world recognition for its remarkable underwater.  Raja Ampat’s four islands: Waigeo, Misool, Salawati, and Batanta are the world paradises in the eyes of beach enthusiasts and divers. Its panoramic underwater dubbed Amazon World Ocean due to its location at the center of the world’s coral triangle is where the most of the biodiversity are.

Raja Ampat underwater is a habitat for 1,070 species of fish, 375 species of coral and 699 invertebrates. The marine produces fishes such as tuna, skipjack, mackerel, grouper, red snapper, sea cucumber, shrimp, and lobster. According to the latest research, Raja Ampat becomes a home for 700 types of mollusks, 1,000 species of reef fish and 540 types of hard coral (75% of the world’s total species).

Only 35 of 610 islands in Raja Ampat are inhabited. Most of the people here work as fishermen. Meanwhile, some of them cultivate pearls and seaweed or manage palm and coconut plants on the  Pam, Kofiau, and Salawati Island.

 

Birds of Paradise in the Sawinggrai Village

Sawinggrai Village located in Meos Mansar District, Raja Ampat of West Papua. Birds of paradise that freely fly over the wilderness are the most appealing scene of the village. Everyone gets stunned to see them dancing and showing off their elegant feathers. The birds’ feathers have been a trade commodity for a long time. People chase it for the sake of fashion. The bird is now endangered and needs to be conserved.

In Sawinggrai, especially in Manjai Hill, there are 4 species: the red bird of paradise, the magnificent bird of paradise, the lesser bird of paradise, and the greater bird of paradise. The red on is the most famous being an icon of the village. Within  the breeding season, the male ones like to show off their feathers to attract females attention.

 

Arborek Tourism Village

This village is known as a nice place to enjoy Raja Ampat. Most of the tourists choose to stay here. The village has all the beauty of Raja Ampat from its underwater to what you see on the surface. A snorkeler could head to Arborek Port.  And you the divers, no need to step too far. The diving spots are about 10 minutes from the port. As the sea water is very clear, you can see corals, manta rays, dugongs, reef sharks, and various colorful fishes even from above.

Manta Ray is an early mammal shaped in a wide flat body, with two horns and wings so it looks like a giant bat and still largely found in Raja Ampat. The length is about 6 to 7 meters and weight is up to 2 tons. They like to appear sometimes in Manta Point of Arborek. They’re not going to be extinct because Arborek people really concern at natural conservation.

Arborek is about 7 hectares and mostly covered with white sand which is enjoyable for people walking barefoot. Houses are arranged tidily , one to another separated with palm trees. You might find funny to see local people hang their mobile phones on trees. Anyway, that’s the way of getting a phone signal.

Here, you can also find various local handicrafts made by Arborek women. Noken, a woven handmade bag made of ropes and timber is the most sought after tourists. Only women are allowed to produce noken due to its symbolic meaning on women among Papuan community. The prices of noken and other handicrafts are affordable so that Arborek is a heaven for ethnic stuff lovers.

Kepulauan Raja Ampat, Surga dari Timur

 

Seluruh dunia sepertinya telah mengakui pesona Raja Ampat yang berlokasi di bagian barat kepala burung Pulau Papua. Banyak pengunjung yang menganggap empat gugusan pulau yang membentuk Raja Ampat, yaitu Pulau Waigeo, Pulau Misool, Pulau Salawati, dan Pulau Batanta sebagai surga dunia, terutama bagi penikmat pantai dan penyelam. Selain menjadi ikon wisata bawah laut nomor satu di Indonesia, keindahan alam bawah lautnya disebut-sebut sebagai Amazon Lautan Dunia karena terletak pada titik pusat segitiga karang dunia. Kawasan yang termasuk dalam segitiga karang memiliki kekayaan hayati terbanyak di dunia.

Alam bawah laut Raja Ampat menjadi habitat bagi 1.070 spesies ikan,  375 spesies koral dan 699 hewan tak bertulang belakang. Ikan-ikan populer seperti ikan tuna, cakalang, tenggiri, kerapu, kakap merah, teripang, udang, maupun lobster menjadi hasil laut andalan Raja Ampat. Menurut data terakhir, Raja Ampat juga menjadi rumah bagi sekitar 700 jenis moluska, 1.000 jenis ikan karang, dan 540 jenis karang keras (75% dari total jenis dunia).

Dari 610 pulau di Raja Ampat, hanya 35 pulau yang berpenghuni. Sebagian besar penduduk bermatapencaharian sebagai nelayan. Selain itu mereka membudidayakan mutiara dan rumput laut. Ada juga beberapa dari mereka yang mengelola kebun kelapa sawit dan kelapa dalam di Pulau Pam, Pulau Kofiau, dan Pulau Salawati.

 

Cendrawasih dari Desa Sawinggrai

Daya tarik utama Desa Sawinggrai di Distrik Meos Mansar, Raja Ampat, Papua Barat adalah burung cendrawasih yang berterbangan di alam bebas. Di sini, siapapun akan terpana melihat Sang Cendrawasih menari, memamerkan keindahan bulu-bulunya. Sejak lama bulu-bulu cendrawasih menjadi komoditas perdagangan. Orang-orang mengincar bulu-bulunya untuk dijadikan produk fashion.Cendrawasih termasuk binatang langka yang dilindungi demi menjaga populasinya.

Di Sawinggrai, terutama di Bukit Manjai, ada empat jenis Cendrawasih yaitu cendrawasih merah, cendrawasih belah rotan, cendrawasih kecil, dan cendrawasih besar. Namun yang paling terkenal dan jadi ikon desa ini adalah cendrawasih merah. Pada musim kawin, cendrawasih pejantan akan mempertontonkan bulu-bulunya dengan rasa bangga. Tujuannya untuk menarik perhatian para betina.

Desa Wisata Arborek

Desa ini dikenal sebagai tempat yang pas untuk menikmati Raja Ampat dan banyak dijadikan pilihan wisatawan untuk menginap. Desa Arborek dikelilingi keindahan alam Raja Ampat, baik yang tampak di permukaan laut maupun yang ada di bawah laut. Jika Anda penggemar snorkeling, silahkan menuju Dermaga Arborek. Jika ingin menyelam pun tak perlu pergi terlalu jauh, lokasi penyelaman ditempuh sekitar 10 menit dari dermaga.  Karena air lautnya sangat jernih, berbagai jenis karang, ikan pari, dugong, hiu karang, dan beraneka ikan hias warna-warni terlihat dari atas permukaan air.

Ikan Pari Manta atau Manta Ray, mamalia purba dengan bentuk badan pipih lebar, bertanduk dua, dan bersayap sehingga tampak seperti kelelawar raksasa, hingga kini masih dapat dijumpai di Raja Ampat. Manta Ray memiliki panjang 6 hingga 7 meter dan berat mencapai 2 ton. Manta Ray sering menampakkan diri di Manta Point, Arborek. Hewan ini tidak punah sebab penduduk Arborek sangat peduli pada keindahan dan kelestarian alam Raja Ampat.

Luas Desa Arborek kira-kira 7 hektar dan rata-rata ditutupi pasir putih yang membuat penduduknya nyaman berjalan tanpa alas kaki. Rumah-rumah penduduk tertata rapi dengan pepohonan kelapa memisahkan satu rumah dengafn rumah lainnya. Anda mungkin akan terheran atau tertawa geli melihat penduduk setempat menggantung ponsel di pohon. Itu cara mereka untuk mendapatkan sinyal telepon.

Berbagai kerajinan khas Raja Ampat dan Papua bisa ditemukan di sini. Kerajinan-kerajinan dibuat oleh para perempuan Arborek. Noken, berupa tas khas Papua dari simpul-simpul tali dan kulit kayu, biasanya paling banyak dicari wisatawan. Hanya perempuan yang boleh membuat noken sebab hal itu berkaitan dengan makna dan kedudukan perempuan dalam masyarakat Papua. Noken sendiri melambangkan rahim perempuan. Noken dan kerajinan khas lainnya dijual dengan harga terjangkau, sehingga Desa Arborek juga menjadi surga para pecinta barang-barang etnik.

Itinerary

Day 1

In the first day, the visitors will be picked up by our best guide at Sorong airport and then using the boat to Waisai Raja Ampat and check in homestay or resort, get lunch and continue to trekking to Piaynemo as Wayag Mini tourism icon in Raja Ampat then the visitor will be invited to directly enjoy the beauty of Telaga Bintang. Visitors will also go snorkeling and swim in Rufas then visit Sawinggrai village and meeting the local people there. Later in the afternoon, all visitors return to Homestay.

Day 2

Second day after breakfast, visitors are invited to visit Pasir Timbul and Yenbuba for snorkeling, then last destination Friwen Wall and Friwen Monda where visitor can enjoying the beauty scenery of the nature beaches. Then Check out and they will be accompanied to the port to depart to Sorong. Arriving at Sorong, they then go to Sorong airport.
